Todd R. Pedersen , , , Chief Executive Officer

Todd Pedersen is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Vivint Smart Home. Under Todd's leadership, Vivint has evolved from a dynamic startup to the leading smart home services company in North America.

Todd founded APX Alarm in 1999, which became one of the largest residential security companies in North America. The company rebranded to Vivint in 2010 and later launched an innovation center to pioneer the development of new smart home technology.  In 2012, the Blackstone Group acquired Vivint for more than $2 billion. Todd led the incubation and launch of Vivint Solar, which had a $1.5 billion IPO in 2014 and became the second largest residential solar power provider in the United States. In 2017, Fast Company named Vivint to its list of the World’s 50 Most Innovative Companies. As a result of his efforts in the business world and in the community, Todd has been named an Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year, Utah's Entrepreneur of the Year by Mountain West Capital Network, and was inducted into the David Eccles School of Business Hall of Fame.

Alex J. Dunn , , , President

As President of Vivint Smart Home, Alex oversees the strategic direction of the company and manages revenue growth and future expansion.

Since joining the company in 2006, Alex has led Vivint Smart Home to become the leading smart home services provider in North America. He played a critical role in bringing on equity partners including Goldman Sachs, Jupiter Partners, and Peterson Partners and also secured an $880 million credit facility with a syndicate of 26 financial institutions. In 2012, he spearheaded the company’s acquisition by the Blackstone Group for more than $2 billion, positioning Vivint for further growth. Before joining Vivint, Alex started and ran two successful venture-backed companies, and served as Chief of Staff and Chief Operating Officer to Governor Mitt Romney in Massachusetts. Alex has a bachelor's degree in Business Management from Brigham Young University.

Joy Driscoll Durling , , , Chief Information Officer

As Chief Information and Digital Enablement Officer at Vivint Smart Home, Joy is responsible for all business and operations technologies, systems and analytics, as well as enabling new go-to-market strategies and channels.

Prior to joining Vivint in 2017, Joy held various leadership positions during her 12-year tenure at Adobe Systems Inc. As a Vice President, she was a strategic advisor to Adobe’s Chief Technology Officer and led product roadmap planning for Adobe's Cloud Platform and the company. She also served as Chief of Staff to the Chief Information Officer, focusing on enterprise architecture, portfolio management, mergers and acquisitions, as well as running all aspects of the global IT organization of 950 employees during Adobe’s successful transition to a SaaS company. Before Adobe, Joy served in various roles at Macromedia and Andersen Business Consulting. She focused on defining strategy and sales, marketing, and operational technology improvement projects for several Fortune 500 tech companies, including Apple, Microsoft and Sun Microsystems. Durling earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. She was a Division I All-American, three-time national champion, and an alternate to the 1996 US Olympic Field Hockey Team.

Matthew J. Eyring , , , Executive Vice President and General Manager, Inside Sales

Matt Eyring is the Executive Vice President and General Manager of Inside Sales, responsible for the company’s digital marketing, inside sales channel, and new business development and strategy. He served previously as the company’s Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer and founded the Vivint Innovation Center, which encompasses all of Vivint’s technology and product operations. Before Vivint, Matt was the Managing Partner of Innosight, a global strategy and innovation consulting firm. He led worldwide strategy and operations, as well as the healthcare and emerging markets practices. Matt was one of the founding partners at the firm with Harvard Business School Professor Clayton Christensen. Matt currently serves on the National Presidential Advisory Board at Utah Valley University, as well as the David Eccles School of Business Advisory Board at the University of Utah where he is a Distinguished Alumni. He is the co-author of several Harvard Business Review articles, was named one of Fast Company’s Most Creative People in Business, and currently holds 35 technology patents. Matt holds a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Utah and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.

Dale R. Gerard , , , Interim Chief Financial Officer

Dale R. Gerard serves as the interim chief financial officer. Since 2010, Gerard has led finance, investor relations and treasury at Vivint Smart Home.

Dale has had more than 25 years of experience in financial management, investor relations and treasury. Before Vivint, Gerard worked as the assistant treasurer and director of finance at American Commercial Lines where he was responsible for capital markets and treasury operations. He was also the senior treasury and financial analyst at Wabash National Corporation where he supported the company’s risk management, treasury operations and financial planning and analysis. Gerard earned his bachelor’s degree in Accounting and his MBA from Purdue University. He is also a Certified Treasury Professional.

Scott R. Hardy , , , Chief Operating Officer

Scott Hardy is responsible for the customer-facing operations of the company, including customer care, monitoring, field service and business analytics.

Before his promotion to Chief Operating Officer, Hardy served for two years as the Senior Vice President of Inside Sales at Vivint Smart Home, where he led customer acquisition through the company’s digital marketing, inside sales, retail and partner channels. Under Hardy’s leadership, his 300-person team doubled the volume of sales through these channels, while decreasing acquisition costs. Hardy joined Vivint in 2013 as the Vice President of Business Analytics. Before Vivint, Hardy was a principal at the Cicero Group, LP, a consulting and market research firm, where he led the firm’s strategy consulting practice. He also spent several years at McKinsey & Company and Monitor Group, where he focused on sales, marketing and operational improvement projects for several Fortune 500 companies. Scott has led operating divisions of other companies, including Cisco where he was a director of product management and an early member of the company’s TelePresence cloud business unit. He also spent several years in general management and marketing roles for Tandberg and NCH Partsmaster Europe. Hardy has a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Brigham Young University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Shawn J. Lindquist , , , Chief Legal Officer

Shawn Lindquist is responsible for all legal aspects of the company’s operations.

Prior to joining Vivint Smart Home, Shawn served the Chief Legal Officer of Vivint Solar and guided the company through its IPO in 2014.   Shawn previously served as the Chief Legal Officer, Executive Vice President and Secretary of Fusion-io, Inc. through a significant growth stage, including its IPO and several acquisitions in the U.S. and Europe. Shawn also served as Chief Legal Officer, Senior Vice President and Secretary of Omniture, Inc., an online marketing and web analytics company, helping guide the company through its IPO and several strategic transactions, including several acquisitions in the U.S., Europe and Israel, as well as Omniture’s merger with Adobe Systems Incorporated.   Before Omniture, Shawn was a corporate and securities attorney at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, P.C., the leading legal advisor to technology, life sciences, and other growth enterprises worldwide. He also has served as in-house corporate and mergers and acquisitions counsel for Novell, Inc., and as Vice President and General Counsel of a privately held, venture-backed company. He has also served as an adjunct professor of law at the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University.

Nate Randle , , , Chief Marketing Officer

As Chief Marketing Officer, Nate Randle leads global marketing and communications for Vivint Smart Home.

Nate has more than 17 years of experience leading brand strategy and consumer communication. Prior to joining Vivint, Nate was the senior vice president of marketing for the Utah Jazz, where he directed the marketing, design, social media and game operations for the team. He also served on the executive team that secured the new naming rights partner for the home of the Utah Jazz, which is now the Vivint Smart Home Arena. Nate spent five years at Nike in Beaverton, Oregon. He served as the brand director for football and baseball working directly with the NFL and MLB on product launches and athlete integration. He also drove the brand strategy and consumer initiatives for Nike Golf. Before Nike, Randle worked in a variety of marketing and sales positions for Amer Sports, Callaway Golf Company and Hewlett-Packard. He has a bachelor’s degree in Business Finance from the University of Utah.

Todd M. Santiago , , , Executive Vice President and General Manager of Retail

As Executive Vice President and General Manager of Retail, Todd manages the company’s retail relationships, home builder and custom installation initiatives, and lead generation platform. Todd previously served as the company’s Chief Revenue Officer, where he led the company’s direct-to-home division, insides sales team, partnerships and the development of new distribution channels. Before joining Vivint in 2013, Todd was President and Chief Executive Officer of 2GIG Technologies. 2GIG was a pioneer in the smart home industry, creating the first home automation platform for the mass market. While at 2GIG, Todd developed a network of more than 2,000 dealers throughout North America. Since the launch of its home automation platform in 2009, 2GIG has sold millions of Go!Control systems. Todd’s leadership was instrumental in the company’s acquisition by Blackstone in 2012 and then Nortek in 2013. Todd received a bachelor's degree in English from Brigham Young University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Senior Leadership

Joe Albaugh , , , Chief Security Officer

Joe Albaugh is the Chief Security Officer at Vivint. In this position, Joe is responsible for all security strategy and initiatives across the company.

Joe has more than twenty years of professional experience in security analysis, design, implementation and management, with a particularly strong background in technical vulnerability assessment and program development.

Before joining Vivint, Joe was the Chief Information Security Officer for the U.S. Department of Transportation, overseeing the information assurance and cyber security efforts across all modes of transportation within the department. Prior to this role, Joe was the Chief Information Security Officer for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) where he led the redesign the organization’s cyber security program.

Before joining the FAA, Joe was the Chief Information Security Officer and acting Chief Information Officer for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, where he built and managed global information security and technology programs. He has also served as a senior manager in BearingPoint’s Public Services Solutions Group where he led the security practices for foreign affairs and federal health-care.

Joe received a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Maryland and a master’s degree in information assurance from Norwich University. He completed executive education programs at the Yale School of Management and the Federal Executive Institute. He has also acquired several professional certifications in his career, including the CISSP, C|EH, MCSE, CCNA and PCLP, and was an advisory board member for the C|CISO certification.

Starr Fowler , , , Senior Vice President of Human Resources

Starr Fowler is the Senior Vice President of Human Resources for Vivint.

Starr has more than 13 years of experience developing and executing human capital strategies that maximize enterprise profitability and performance. Before joining Vivint, Starr spent eight years at Boart Longyear (BLY), the world’s leading provider of drilling services and products for the mining industry. In this position she was responsible for leading large-scale organization change initiatives aimed at driving efficiencies and reducing costs in the company. She also held a variety of regional and global human resource roles including, Director of Human Resources, Asia Pacific and Director of Human Resources, Global Products where she created talent management and leadership development programs. Early in Starr’s career, she also held HR positions with Honeywell and AMEC.

Starr holds a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Idaho and an MBA in organizational behavior from Brigham Young University.

JT Hwang , , , Chief Engineering Officer

As Chief Engineering Officer at Vivint Smart Home, JT oversees all engineering development and processes, including product hardware and software development, embedded software, storage, wireless technology and mobile apps. He is responsible for the company’s backend cloud infrastructure that supports more than a million smart home customers and handles millions of events a day.

JT is responsible for the company’s backend cloud infrastructure that supports more than a million smart home customers and handles more than 500 million events a day. JT is also General Manager of the wireless division at Vivint, working on advanced broadband technologies to deliver high-speed internet access. In his prior role as Chief Information Officer at Vivint, JT created a fully integrated and automated IT infrastructure that combined the company’s ERP and CRM systems, as well as a dozen other applications. He executed a successful SAP HANA implementation in eight months. He also implemented a real-time scheduling system to enable same-day installs for new customers. Before joining Vivint in 2008, JT worked at Hewlett-Packard and was the Chief Architect at Netezza, which was later acquired by IBM for $1.7 billion. He received a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from MIT.

Patrick E. Kelliher , , , Chief Accounting Officer

Pat Kelliher has served as Chief Accounting Officer at Vivint Inc. February 2014. In this role, Pat is responsible for all the company’s accounting activities, including external financial reporting, customer billing, payroll, taxes and accounts payable. Pat joined Vivint in March 2012 as Vice President of Finance and Controller.

Before joining Vivint, Pat was the Vice President of Finance and Controller for Omniture Inc. and helped expand the company’s annual revenues from $43 million to $350 million in just five years. He developed Omniture’s accounting infrastructure and played an integral role in the company’s IPO, which was the most successful tech IPO in 2006. After Omniture was acquired by Adobe Inc. in 2009, Pat was named the Senior Director of Finance and Controller of Adobe’s Digital Marketing Business Unit.

Pat was also the VP of Finance and Assistant Corporate Controller at Cadence Design Systems, a $1.1 billion software company, based in the Silicon Valley. He led the transition of Cadence’s back-office accounting functions from San Jose to Utah, which was completed in less than two months. He then ran the Utah office locally and managed an organization of more than 50 employees.

Prior to Cadence, Pat held a number of senior finance roles with various technology growth companies. He began his career in public accounting, in the Chicago office of Coopers and Lybrand.

Pat holds a Bachelors of Science in accounting and finance from Northern Illinois University and an MBA from the University of Chicago, with a concentration in corporate finance and international business. He is also a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Illinois and a Certified Management Accountant.

Matt Linford , , , Senior Vice President, Customer Excellence

Matt Linford is responsible for delivering an excellent support experience to all Vivint customers. He oversees all customer solutions teams and the company’s award-winning monitoring centers.

Before joining Vivint Smart Home in 2017, Matt held a number of operational leadership roles at Capital One, where he helped launch the financial services customer office, led the operational support center for the mortgage business, and implemented a proprietary process excellence model across the home and auto loan businesses. Previously, Matt was the senior director of pricing strategy at ConAgra Foods and the treasury manager at BP plc. He also worked as a management consultant for McKinsey & Company where he focused on marketing and sales strategies for the technology and consumer packaged goods industries.

Matt has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from The University of Texas and an MBA from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Jim Nye , , , Chief Product Operations Officer

Jim Nye is Senior Vice President of Product Management at Vivint Inc. As Vice President, Jim manages new product development, technology, and business partnerships.

In this capacity, Jim has played a critical role in Vivint's transition from a security-only product line to a home automation provider. Jim oversees product requirements, testing, and roll-outs to ensure the success of the product throughout its lifecycle—from installation to communication with the monitoring station to customer satisfaction. Jim leads the company's relationship with 2Gig Technologies. This partnership has allowed the company to provide customers with innovative home automation technology, such as an LCD touchscreen panel, a fully integrated security system, and a programmable thermostat. Jim has also played a critical role in forming relationships with, whose software allows customers to control their systems from their smartphones or computers.

Jim's vision has made Vivint a trendsetter in the home automation industry. His product choices and development have given customers intuitive technology with which to manage their homes. Vivint's current product line is robust and has poised the company for continued success and additional services in the future.

Before assuming the role of vice president, Jim worked for Vivint as a system administrator. Prior to joining Vivint, he served as a contractor for Northrop Grumman where he maintained missile defense systems. Jim holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Colorado.

David Porter , , , Chief Procurement Officer

David Porter is responsible for sourcing, procurement and supply chain management across the company. David has more than 18 years of supply chain experience, including a variety of executive positions at Cummins, Inc., a Fortune 500 company and the nation’s largest manufacturer of diesel and natural gas engines.

Before Vivint, David was the executive director of supply chain for the Engine Division of Cummins where he was responsible for global engine manufacturing and procurement across a network of 11 plants around the world. He led more than 6,000 employees and managed nearly $3 billion in annual purchases. Previously, he served as the general manager of Global Oil and Gas at Cummins and headed the company’s sales and marketing efforts worldwide. His other executive roles at Cummins included managing one of the company’s largest engine plants in Jamestown, New York, and managing a plant for three years in Juarez, Mexico.

David is a former captain in the U.S. Army where he served as a logistics officer.

He holds a bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Jeremy B. Warren , , , Chief Technology Officer

As Chief Technology Officer at Vivint Smart Home, Jeremy drives growth and business opportunities and oversees the creation of new products and services. He works closely with the entire innovation team to create the structures and processes necessary to analyze new business ideas and allocate resources for their development.

Before joining Vivint, Jeremy was the Chief Technology Officer at 2GIG Technologies, a pioneer in innovative security and smart home technology. There he led the engineering for the first home automation platform for the mass market.

Prior to 2GIG, Jeremy was the Chief Technology Officer of the U.S. Department of Justice, where his responsibilities included formulating the Department's technology strategy, providing technology expertise in program oversight, performing research, and coordinating all aspects of the Department's technical architecture. Jeremy was also the Chief Architect of Lavastorm Technologies, where he focused on rules-based processing systems, data mining, and statistical analysis.

Jeremy studied Computer Science Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
